Travel Poland

The lovely Zorica (cool name!) talks to us about her time travelling through Poland.  She is the co-founder of Eurotribe which is bursting at the seems with hot tips and tricks all over Europe…

1. Could you briefly introduce yourself, your site and your experience travelling in Poland?

Hey everyone, I am Zorica and I am currently a student of the University of Belgrade. I am a co-founder of the website eurotribe.com where we post travel stories and photos but also travel and tourism industry related news. Be sure to check us out :)

Travelling through Poland was an amazing experience – as one of the largest European states it has a lot to offer in terms of culture and entertainment and its unspoilt nature is simply beautiful.

2. What made you choose this country and what were your first impressions?

Actually I picked Poland totally randomly – funny but true. That’s because I always have a hard time deciding where I want to visit next :) My first impressions were good and they just got better day by day. If the first place you visit in Poland is Warsaw, your first impressions may not be so appealing, but you may end up loving it once you find its inner charm and beauty. People usually don’t like to go back to a place that they already visited but personally I can’t wait to visit Poland again.

3. How much money can someone travel around Poland for? What are the greatest expenses? What things are relatively cheap?

Very little, as transport through Poland is relatively cheap, especially buses. If you book with polskibus.com in advance you can get your ticket for as little as 1 Polish zloty. Another option, which is a bit more expensive, is the express train between cities such as Krakow-Warsaw. Accommodation is also very cheap in Poland and you can have a great meal for about 4 euros in a restaurant.

4. What is the local cuisine like? Did you find yourself trying new things or pining for the familiars of home?

Polish cuisine is amazing. You have to try barszcz soup and pierogi.

5. What cultural activities and events would you suggest everyone seeing or taking part in while travelling in Poland and why?

In Warsaw I recommend a visit to the “Warsaw Uprising Museum” and “Fryderyk Chopin Museum”. Around Krakow there are many day or half-day tours to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Wielizicka Salt Mine. In Lodz I recommend the Cinematography Museum, because this city is the most famous for its leading Polish Film School. Actually, Poland has a large collection of great and interactive museums.

6. What is your favourite thing about travelling this country? What is your least favourite thing?

Beautiful landscapes and awesome people. My least favourite thing was actually my suitcase! :)

7. What things do you focus on most when you blog about this country? Why do you choose these things?

I try to highlight the best it can offer through photos and articles, because I think people enjoy viewing travel photos.

10. If you could think of one thing you wished someone told you before you started travelling in Poland what would it be?

To stay longer :)

Thanks Zorica!
